Finally moving into 2020!

Crazy, isn’t it, it’s taken 3 weeks for me to find a space where I feel a sense of actually moving into a New Year – 2020 – arguably, a new decade…! How has it been for you…? I was somewhat catapulted into a strange ‘in between’ phase after Christmas (for many & varied reasons!) & have only really just surfaced & gone through

Merry Christmas & Happy 2020!

Once again, we’re here, heading towards the end of another year… Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, & however you intend to spend the time – alone, working, endless gatherings, driving around… etc etc …make a space to take a moment, draw breath & check in with how you’re feeling & if your basic needs are being met… If not, make a tweak or

Good enough…

Not long before my son was born, a book came out, titled ‘Good Enough Parenting’ by Bruno Bettlelheim. I can’t pretend to have read it, but people I mixed with referred to it & it became a mantra for, not just my parenting, but for life…! I grew up with a father who was a perfectionist, & as I was heading for the Royal

The ‘myth’ around happiness…

A provocative statement perhaps… but a perpetual expectation of constant happiness as a state is, I think, more than a little deluded & stressful!! Where’s sadness, grief, anger, deep joy etc etc…?? Our natural ‘states’ include all the above & more, without the sense of pressure that sometimes exists around the need to be relentlessly cheerful & positive around everything that happens in life.

Hibernation…

A client asked me recently if I had gone into hibernation yet? They are well aware that I make the most of shorter days (& often miserable, grey, wet weather) by having pj or slobby days, when working from home & indulging in fairy lights & general cosiness. My reply was that my hibernation isn’t necessarily just in the dark months. I often ‘hibernate’

Vegan wax

I’m always on the look out for new waxes or new blends, to mix up what I offer to clients within their massage treatments. Recently, I came across the Vegan Wax Company, who offer waxes without beeswax, with a plain wax & a few blended. Specifically for clients who are making a vegan choice in their lives, these are perfect… but, they also smell

Fairy lights required?

Hmmm, it’s that time of year already… the days are definitely getting shorter, darkness is coming in earlier & grey days seem to have more impact on any light indoors… For me, that’s a sign to embrace ‘cosy’ fast! So, I make a ‘note to self’ fairy lights on, consider hot water bottles, different music, programmes or movies to have as back ground &

Ease & Flow…

Always, always, I would vote for ease & flow, above pure strength – what I see as a current trend around exercise & fitness. For me, some of the strength is disproportionate to people’s body types, ignoring flexibility which is what keeps our bones & skeleton free to move as was intended. Strong – read as tight -muscles, will often lock the skeleton &

Supporting you…

My aim is to support you to make the best choices for your overall wellbeing. For each & every one of you that will be different, whether that relates more to the purely physical (ie your body) or it’s circumstance, or ‘age’n stage’… And, of course, there’s a combination of all of those, with, perhaps, the focus being more on just one element at

A top tip or 2 for the hot weather…?

I may have told some of you about these, but I think the first one, particularly, is a brilliant ‘top tip’ if you ‘overheat’ in the current sunshine (Cornwall, UK)! Put a ‘hot’ water bottle (or 2, or more!) in the fridge, so you rotate when they warm up! Clearly, you fill it/them with cold water to start with… under your head at night,
